Take your endurance training to the next level!
Endurance is the body's ability to sustain effort over a period of time. There are several types of endurance that people should be aware of. They are:
Aerobic endurance requires the use of oxygen and is required in activities which exceed 3 minutes in length.
Everyone needs aerobic endurance (some people need it more than others). Aerobic exercise has shown to significantly decrease a person's risk of coronary heart disease and is one of the greatest contributors to weight loss.
Anaerobic endurance is the body's ability to sustain effort without the presence of oxygen. Anaerobic exercise is higher in intensity than aerobic exercise and obviously cannot be sustained for as long as aerobic exercise.
Endurance training requires thought and planning in order for a person to achieve optimum endurance fitness. Timing between sessions is critical as studies have shown that a person may lose most of the benefits of aerobic training if they leave too long between workouts. Also, not leaving enough time to recover between workouts is detrimental to the recovery process.
