What is Jujitsu?

Jujitsu is the mother of all Martial Arts (such as karate, judo, kendo and aikido) and its techniques cover all the ranges of combat (punching, kicking, grappling, joint locks, chokes, ground fighting and even the use of weapons).

Jujitsu means "gentle" or "soft" technique which uses an opponent's strength against himself by various means. Jujitsu was originally used by the samurai warrior as a battle field martial art.

We at the Bushido Jujitsu Academy pride ourselves on delivering high quality jujitsu training sessions to a wide range of people. We have a lot of experience working with bullied children and boosting the self esteem of young people through our jujitsu lessons which many children find fun.

We have a wide variety of adults who train with the Bushido Jujitsu Academy who come from all walks of life.

If you have practiced jujitsu before, we will recognise your grade and qualifications. Just simply show us your licence to prove your grade and you can start practicing from the grade you are. Some organisations will force you to start again from the beginning in order to swindle more money out of your pocket.

Where can I Practice Jujitsu?

The Bushido Jujitsu Academy has jujitsu clubs all over the north east. We have clubs in Gateshead, Newcastle and Sunderland. See our clubs timetable for more info.

Alternatively, if you wish to receive private one-to-one martial art/jujitsu sessions, this can also be arranged. Learning one-to-one has many benefits. You will receive private instruction at your pace and at a time conveniant to you (days, evenings or weekends).
